Azcapotzalco hosts the delegation of the same name. Azcapotzalco comprises both villages of pre-Hispanic origins and the modernity and urbanization of Mexico City. This used to be Tepaneca territory, archaeological remains still remain.
The Dominicans settled here to evangelize the territory in the 16th century. Visit the San Felipe y Santiago Apóstoles church and former convent. This was the first Catholic church built by the Dominican monks, and inside is the Chapel of the Rosary, with Churrigueresque shrines and a beautiful atrium. The former convent is adjacent to the Azcapotzalco Culture House. Opposite, the Historical Archive. All these buildings are located in the Jardín Hidalgo, the center of the old village.
Outside the old town of Azcapotzalco is the Tezozómoc Park, with a lake representing the ancient Texcoco lake. Other recommended places to visit are the village of San Juan Tlilhuaca, to see the Glorieta de los Ahuehuetes, of pre-Hispanic origin, and the church of San Juan Bautista, from the colonial era.
In addition to the murals in the Culture House, there are other murals worth visiting such as Juan O'Gorman's Paisaje de Azcapotzalco at the Fray Bartolomé de las Casas Library plus Diego Rivera and Siqueiros' murals at Centro Médico La Raza.
